I just revisited Zabriskie Point. Man oh man is this movie much better then I remembered. Awesome even. Don't know why it carries such a bad rep. Too bad its barely available.

The movie is obviously against the Vietnam war, that's why it was forbidden in the states for the 10 years.

Yep I know about the concurrent deaths of these GIANTS...its what made me dig up my very rare russian DVD of Zabriskie Point [dont ask]. More then a statement of Vietnam, the film is a scathing observation of the American way of life. Not a pretty picture. Its what makes the film seem very fresh on many levels. The same corporate mentality has only flourished since the early seventies. A prophetic film on the shallow soulessness that is devouring our culture.

I agree with allof you guys, this movie is really delicious, though I have not seen it as an entire movie, just the tv double (or was it triple, forgot!)episode. I won't add anything new to your comments, you said it all-it depicts those aspects of Italian tradition, culture and history, as a painting, complete, so well throughout those decades. Moving and intelligent, natural and human, I really felt 'as part of the story'; you're definetly right Jessica, the historical aspects never trump the storytelling, plus the only personal thing I may add you didn't mention, to me, Locascio is awesome!!
